American Bliss

Hankering for wonder,
there exists this hollow hunger
for which you gorge
on the tasty orgy of Technicolor jewels
adorning whores,
glittering whats it galores –
that will absolutely astound you.
Confounding you with their Faberge beauty,
clutching their blood diamond crucifix of duty,
praying to the atmosphere for money
no sense of the gaseous fury of unchecked balance
tipping closer toward unsustainable violence
stretching over seas and digging into deserts
a demon driving, dark deeds guiding
the greed and the false need
for more.

The Other Man

Your face the sliver
of a lie, my hands
covered in lust,
the kind of dirt
that doesn't come out
in just one wash.
I washed today,
don't I smell free?
Look at me when
I'm on top of you,
because he only moans
with his eyes closed.
We only live once -
such lies make my bones
go honey
through a hungry
man's fingers.

Wild Awake

I want to howl at the moon
with no ears near,
I want to feel the tear in my throat,
a foreign growl
lost
in city streets, walls so close
I could never just breathe a breath
that was completely my own.

Admire My Swagger

Swaying universe of flesh
my power, swinging
back and forth,
a pendulum mapping time
from when these hips
were forced to crumple
beneath men who felt
this swagger shake
their flimsy worlds -
to the Amazonian priestess,
her proud feet dancing
in dirt ceremonies
birthed from the throb
knowing these hips
could capture gods
because they already
held man.

Why I tell you I love you
is like the tide
it rushes in    and must    go out.
